2014 Women of ALPFA dinner welcomes Latino professionals
On May 9th, 2014, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort hosted the 2014 Women of ALPFA dinner. The Women of ALPFA program was started in 2002 by visionary professional Latinas with a purpose of creating opportunities for professional Latinas and empowering Latinas through leadership skills, training, mentoring and career advancement.
ALPFA President Hector Perez hilighted the significance of the event, whose theme was “Weaving Ordinary into Marvelous, Advancing Now!”. “After 12 years, Women of ALPFA continues to deliver a combination of tools and ideas as well as energetic motivation that, when put together, help Latinas in our community impact change. This impact, through leadership, is at the core of what ALPFA stands for.”
This year’s keynote speaker Kat Medrano-Custer shared her inspirational approach to leadership with an audience of 250 community leaders. As part of the Mother’s Day weekend Disney showcased a video to encourage moms to say “yes” more often, laugh louder and live life to the fullest encouraging everyone to show their Disney Side on #DisneySide.
This event highlights the commitment of Walt Disney World to diversity and the Latino community.
ALPFA will host their National Conference at Walt Disney World at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort on August 2-5, 2014. This 4 – day event is designed to create opportunities for professionals to network, attend educational workshops, meet companies committed to diversity and inclusion that have career opportunities, and learn from leaders in the business community.
