Westgate Foundation Helps to Deliver Meals Around Osceola County
It was the perfect example of collaboration.
Osceola Connected, and lead agency the Celebration Foundation, organized a meal packing event in May with 1,500 volunteers in four locations. More than 250,000 meals of rice, lentils, dried vegetables and sea salt were packed. Then on July 30, Westgate Resorts provided a truck, a driver and a helper to move 12 pallets from the Osceola County School District warehouse to food pantries in Osceola County, including the Osceola County Council on Aging, The Rock Church, Habitat for Humanity and The Salvation Army. An additional pallet was delivered to the Osceola Education Foundation and four pallets of meals were left to be distributed to schools in Osceola County to support their pantries.
“Westgate Resorts has always had a heart for helping those less fortunate in our community. We were pleased to support Osceola Connected and the Celebration Foundation by sending our truck and staff to deliver the meals.” said Ellen Tatich, director of the Westgate Resorts Foundation. “This type of effort is exactly the type of thing we are trying to facilitate through Hospitality Helps, a collaboration of companies in the hospitality industry, social service organizations and other local businesses working together to combat homelessness.”
The meals are a healthy, protein packed stable shelf item which will provide food for many children and families in need.
