Disney Celebrates Hispanic Business Success with HBIF
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Sept. 17, 2013 - More than 400 business, government and community leaders celebrated the spirit of entrepreneurship at the annual Hispanic Business Initiative Fund (HBIF) Success Stories Luncheon in downtown Orlando.
Sponsored in part by Walt Disney World Resort, the luncheon also focused on the year-round contributions HBIF makes to the community and honored Alfredo and Irma Avila of Deland Bakery, the Estévez family of Galaxy Auto Service, Inc., and Andre Uribe of Power Grid Engineering, LLC. for their success in Central Florida.
With services designed for small business owners, the HBIF is a nonprofit organization that specializes in providing bilingual assistance to Hispanic entrepreneurs who are establishing or expanding their business. The goal of the HBIF is to strengthen the state’s economy by providing quality business development and training.
“Disney is a great friend of HBIF,” said Christina Pinto, chair of the HBIF board of directors. “Disney believes in what we do, which is helping Hispanic entrepreneurs start or expand their businesses and create jobs that help grow our Florida economy.”
For the Success Stories honorees, the HBIF is an invaluable part of their business story. “We feel very proud as Latinos to win this award. It’s an example to others who are thinking of starting a business and putting their hearts into their vision,” said Irma Avila of Deland Bakery.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has been a long-time supporter of the HBIF.
