Disney Welcomes Big Brothers Big Sisters to Open Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. May 28, 2014 – Greeted by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, seven pairs of adults and kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida joined Orlando Magic players Victor Oladipo and Tobias Harris today to officially open Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the newest attraction at Magic Kingdom Park.
As the crowning jewel of New Fantasyland, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a spectacular addition to New Fantasyland and represents the completion of the largest expansion in the history of Magic Kingdom Park. Inspired by the classic Disney animated film classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” this fun, family-friendly roller coaster features a first-of-its kind ride system in which cars pivot back and forth during the twists, turns and drops of the ride.
Disney welcomed representatives from the local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters as part of the company’s commitment to supporting nonprofit organizations that are making a positive impact on local children.
“Our Bigs and Littles giggled and rocked their way through this fun adventure and will always remember being a part of the opening day magic for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train,” said Jada Smith, chief executive officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida.
After passing through an interactive pre-show area with mining-themed activities - such as washing and sorting gems – guests will board the mine train and will be transported through magical mountain scenery and a glowing mine. Music from the film classic accompanies the journey. As with any classic Disney attraction, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train features spectacular Audio-Animatronics – with cars slowing down so guests can spot favorite characters making an appearance in various scenes.
