La Prensa’s Mujeres Destacadas Awards Recognize Influential Latina Women
La Prensa Newspaper’s Mujeres Destacadas Awards Luncheon, held on March 14, 2014 in Downtown Orlando gathered over 300 women to honor the accomplishments of extraordinary women in the Central Florida community. This year’s awards highlighted accomplishments in arts & culture, business technology, community leadership, education and health.
The event’s keynote speaker Monica Lozano is regarded as one of the most influential Latinas in the country. Lozano serves on the boards of several non-profit and corporate boards including the Walt Disney Company, serves as Publisher and CEO of La Opinion, a Spanish-language newspaper published in Los Angeles, and in 2011 was appointed by President Obama to the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
Disney has supported La Prensa and the Mujeres Destacadas event for nearly a decade as part of its ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
