NALEO Convention Gathers Political Officials to Discuss National Issues
SAN DIEGO, CA – On June 26-28, 2014 NALEO (National Association of Latino and Elected Officials) held their annual political convention in San Diego, California. NALEO is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization that facilitates the full participation of Latinos in the American political process, from citizenship to public service.
This year’s Latino Political Convention gathered elected and appointed officials, and presented them with a unique opportunity to meet with colleagues from all levels of government in order to address challenges and opportunities facing local communities and the nation as a whole. Conference sessions focused on a variety of topics including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education, health, political empowerment, economic development, and U.S.-Mexico Bi-national issues among many others. One special part of the conference included tributes to active members and veterans of the U.S. military. Breakout sessions were dedicated to addressing veterans issues and their families as they work to reintegrate into their lives and communities.
As part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, Minority Business Development Manager Lourdes Mola attended the convention. Attendance at the conference allows us Disney to develop relationships with leaders and the people they serve. At Disney, diversity is always a part of the big picture.
